  • How many people does the van sleep?
The rear seats pull out into a double bed suitable for 2 adults which is 190cm x 105cm. The roof bed is 225cm x 100cm so perfect for 1 adult or 2 children. There’s also the option of the driveaway awning which has a 240cm x 140cm bedroom pod in it. This will also sleep 2 adults or children.
  • What do I need to bring with me on the day?
Please remember to bring your photocard driving license, your DVLA check code, a bill from the last 3 months with your home address on it, and a way of paying the security deposit.
  • What’s a DVLA check code?
The DVLA check code replaced the paper counterpart of your driving license in June 2015. By sharing the code with us, we can view your licence to make sure you it meets our conditions. You’ll need your driving licence number, postcode, and National Insurance Number to get your code. Please note this is only for UK drivers. Go to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA Website) Choose ‘View or share your driving licence’. Enter your driving licence number, National Insurance Number and postcode. Choose ‘Share your licence information’ at the top right, and click ‘Get a code’.
  • How can I secure a booking?
You can book instantly through the website, with us over the phone, or by email. Your booking isn’t confirmed until you have paid all or part of the price of the holiday. We’ve always tried to be as lenient as possible, but unfortunately this has ended up with us being let down at the last minute. You can pay by BACS, Credit Card, or PayPal.
  • Can we leave our car with you while we’re away?
Yes, you can leave your car with us during your travels
  • Who’s allowed to drive the van?
Included in the cost of hire is insurance for two drivers. You can be covered by our fully comprehensive, self-drive hire insurance as long as you: Hold a UK driving license. Drivers from the European Union, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are also covered. Are aged 23-75 Have 3 or more years driving experience Have 6 or fewer penalty points on your license. Other exclusions apply, so please check if you’re not sure.
  • How can I pay the refundable security deposit?
You can pay the security deposit by cleared cheque, BACS, PayPal, or using a debit or credit card. With card payments we do a ‘pre-authorisation’ transaction which ringfences the funds in your account without taking the payment. We recommend using a credit card for this as although no money leaves your account, it can prevent you accessing your funds. Additionally, whilst we abort the transaction as soon as you get back, some banks can take much longer to allow you to access the funds again.
  • What are the collection and drop-off times?
We now do our bookings by day instead of by night, so you can collect your van anytime from 11am and drop off by 4pm.
  • Do you allow dogs?
Absolutely, we love dogs, and dogs love the campervans! There’s plenty of space for a crate or bed in the van, and they love chilling under the canopy when you’re at the campsite. There's no additional charge for dogs either.
  • Do i need electric hook-up at the campsite
There’s an electric hook-up cable provided, so you can use it if you wish, but it isn’t essential. The leisure battery will run everything while you’re away – the only thing that won’t work on the leisure battery are the 3 pin 240v sockets, but there are USB sockets to charge your phones.
  • Is there a tow-bar or roof-rack?
At the moment none of our vans have tow bars as people usually find they have enough space in the van itself without needing to take extra stuff. However, Gus the Bus has roof bars. There are also bike racks available for Veronica and Gus which attach to the tailgate.
  • Is the driveaway awning easy to put up?
After a lot of research into the ‘perfect awning’ we chose the Outwell Country Road, as it is good quality, spacious, sturdy, relatively compact to transport, and yes – easy to put up. There’s a link to a video here which shows how to put it up, but just check with us before you go if you aren’t sure! The footprint of the awning is 3m x 3.4m.
  • What about bedding?
We don’t include bedding as people are usually very particular about their perfect pillow and ideal quilt! You’ll just need to bring pillows and a sheet and duvet, or just a sleeping bag if you prefer. If you’re visiting from abroad and don’t have space for a sleeping bag, just let us know and we can sort some bedding for you. If you’re intending to sleep in the roof space, you’ll just need a roll mat or small airbed. We can provide one if you don’t have your own.
  • What equipment is included?
A first aid kit and a fire extinguisher A kettle, a Cafetiere, tea, coffee, and sugar, salt and pepper 2 saucepans, a frying pan and utensils Plates, mugs, glasses, cutlery and a bottle opener Jump leads (just in case) and an electric hook-up cable A folding BBQ, mini-windbreak, camping chairs, table and picnic blanket Tea towels, bin bags, cloths and sweeping brush A full water bottle for the sink Optional sun canopy, driveaway awning, bike rack
